The first edition of Brazil Road Expo (BRE) – International Show of Paving and Road Construction Industry – exceeded expectations of visitors and exhibitors. From the 4th to the 6th of April 2011, more than 9 thousand professionals of the sector could see the new solutions and technologies of systems and methods for construction and infrastructure of roads, from the project to conservation and maintenance, including innovations and world tendencies in equipments, products and services.

Business expectations, according to the 170 national and international exhibitors, are around R$ 500 million during and as a result of the fair. As proof, 40% of the floor space was renewed for the next edition during the event. In order to meet the demands of new exhibitors, the organization team announced an increase of 36% in the exhibition area for the second edition of BRE, which is expected to happen from the 2nd to the 4th of April 2012, in the 15 thousand m² of the Blue Pavilion, at the Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo.

“All compliments on the fair success are due to the fact that the show fostered a meeting of specialists, businessmen and authorities with the common objective of supplying the need of an exclusive show focused on road infrastructure”, says  Aldair Colombo, Superintendent of Quartier. The Sales Director of Terex Roadbuilding, Gilvan Medeiros Pereira agrees: “Brazil is now a very attractive country for investments and so will it remain for the next years. We’re the “New Eldorado’. “The demand for infrastructure is growing fast and the presence of international companies at the fair proves that, either as exhibitors or as visitors”, says the businessman.

Lecturers and participants approved the program for Brazil Road Summit – conference program that happens alongside the exhibition and whose guidelines focused on new Technologies and innovations presented at the fair. According to Andrea Severi, PhD in Engineering and Ecoworld Consultant, all seminars discussed the needs of the infrastructure market in Brazil, especially in relation to the immediate solutions proposed to the infrastructure works for events such as the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.

Either by the great number of exhibitors or by the discussions proposed by Brazil Road Summit, the first edition of the show was considered a success, since it met the demands of a large and complex market in expansion in Brazil, a country with continental dimensions which needs infrastructure to keep on growing with sustainability.  “The show was essential for our country and, for this reason, exceeded all expectations in terms of visitors and business during the three days, making Brazil Road Expo the main road infrastructure fair, says the Executive Director of Quartier, Guilherme Ramos.

The beginning of Brazil Road Expo 2011 included an opening ceremony with authorities, entities from paving and road infrastructure sectors, the press, in addition to the exhibitors. Those who addressed the public, in short speeches, commented on the auspicious moment the fair was being held, considering the new challenges and demands the infrastructure sector has been facing in Brazil. The ceremony counted with the presences of Mário Rodrigues (ANTT), representing the Ministry of Transportation, Alfredo Nascimento; Congressman Roberto Santiago; City Councilor (SP), Wadih Mutran, Manoel Carlos Lima, from FIESP, representing the president of the entity, Paulo Skaf, in addition to the presidents of ABEDA, Eder Vianna; ANDIT, João Virgílio, ANEOR, José Alberto Ribeiro; ABCR, Moacyr Duarte; ABECE, Eduardo Barros Millen; ALEC, Durval C.
