The municipal government of Canoas, in Rio Grande do Sul, has recently acquired a Terex Magnum 80 Counterflow Plant, with a capacity to produce up to 80 tons/ hour of asphalt.
According to Alcy Paulo de Oliveira, Secretary of Public Works, the advantage lies the resulting economy of up to R$ 438 thousand/month for the city. Before the acquisition, great part of the asphalt used to be acquired from a company outside Canoas and costs were also increased by expenses such as the material transportation.
Until the end of the current year, the government of Canoas intends to pave 15 kilometers of the most voted roads in the 2009 Participatory Budgeting: Guajuviras, Mathias Velho and Santo Operário.
